"I studied his work and was inspired to simplify my figurative work while still having my Polynesian subject. Making things a little more stylized and a little more simple."

Kim McDonald has been as busy as ever painting away in her studio in Paia, Maui. See her latest creations below. The new series is called "Jungle Fever"... Her love for painting Polynesian women in tropical landscapes is bright in this summer series.

"Star Light Star Bright" is an original oil painting. Kim's new series "Twilight in the Tropics" is inspired by the glow from the sky when the sun is below the horizon. Maui's magical sun being scattered across the sky as day turns into night.
