The first time I traveled to French Polynesia, I spent the entire summer, mostly on the beautiful island of Mo‘orea.
I arrived as a visitor, but I left feeling like family.
The kindness and generosity of the people welcomed me into their homes, their lives, and their hearts. It was an experience that has stayed with me ever since.
I’ve returned to French Polynesia—especially Moorea—a dozen times over the years, always coming home with renewed inspiration. The luminous turquoise waters, vibrant colors, and spirit of the islands continue to find their way into my paintings.
When I returned from that very first journey, this was the first painting I created. It remains one of the most meaningful paintings of my career, and I’m grateful it’s still part of my personal collection.
Sometimes an old favorite deserves another moment in the light. I've decided to bring this piece out of retirement as a limited release of fine art prints, and it feels so meaningful to share it with you again.
Large giclee prints (19x46”) are available online now.
I hope it carries with it the warmth of ʻohana, the spirit of French Polynesia, and all the little moments of love and connection that inspired it in the first place.
French Polynesia has a way of slowing everything down.
It's where I go to refill my spirit, where color speaks in ways words never can, and where so many of my paintings begin.
