This piece is the largest original works of my life—both in size and in spirit.
When I began, it was simply a landscape. But as the days passed and the painting unfolded, I realized it needed something more. It needed the heartbeat of life.
So I began adding them—people, animals—placed with care and intention. Slowly, it became a story.
And somewhere along the way, I found myself stepping into the painting. As though I were the young woman walking that red dirt road, holding her child close. I could feel the sun on my back, hear the breeze through the trees, sense the quiet companionship of animals nearby.
The vision is simple, yet sacred:
A rustic grass shack, open to the breeze.
Life moving gently all around.
A moment from another time, still vivid in my imagination—rooted in my deep love for Hawaiian and Polynesian culture.
This painting became a journey.
From a quiet landscape to a living story.
From brushstrokes to memory.
If Come This Way speaks to you the way it speaks to me, I invite you to come see it in person at my gallery in Paia.
